Growing Weary

 

For those who are growing weary while voluntarily or not voluntarily listening to the constant flow of often contradicting news, conspiracy theories and other daily broadcasted fake news, which Srila Prabhupada described in one single word as „phantasmagoria“, may take shelter in these four slokas of Srimad Bhagavatam.

 

Those who carefully read the Seventh Canto of this most sublime literature, are already informed about the psychological profile of one of the most advanced demons this planet ever saw, Hiranyakashipu.

 

Due to his severe austerities, achieving powers beyond the imagination of today´s petty demons who try to manipulate people with fake paper money and by dint of micro chip gizmos, Hiranyakashipu just by raising his eyebrows put in fear all those who were dominated by his universal tyranny.

 

As the demons of today try to gain control with the help of some man-invented virus, following the ever repeating scenario of seeking the ultimate control over this planet, the material nature can anytime defeat them, making their attempts similar to the plan of the ants to move their anthill few inches further.

 

Locked down by the impact of time, locked down for the moment in the area of their being, the conditioned soul shakes in fear of the unknown future while forgetting the past. It is this fear which provides control for those who artificially created it, the fear of losing this precious body and everything belonging to it.

As if death would not ultimately take away anyway what we struggle to keep today, the „fools and rascals“, as Srila Prabhupada defined the general population (rascals still trying to control the fools), are hoping against hope trying to control what is not given to them.

 

And so once upon a time, the higher authorities who control this universe and other universes as well, gathered in front of Visnu or Krsna to seek safety from the ongoing atrocities of Hiranyakashipu.

 

As many times before, Krsna has chosen to appear in front of them in the form of a voice sounding from the sky and His assurance is as relevant today as it was thousands of years before. Those demons who may read this text accidentally and laugh about these „mystical stories of the past“, may be informed that what is said here took real shape in the past, and will take real shape in the upcoming time as well.

 

And so here Srimad Bhagavatam speaks as clearly as always did through thousands of years, pacifying those pious at heart, ensuring them safety:

 

 

SB. 7.4.24

 

„Then there appeared before them a transcendental sound vibration, emanating from a personality not visible to material eyes. The voice was as grave as the sound of the cloud, and it was very encouraging, driving away all fear.“

 

SB. 7.4.25-26

 

„The voice of the Lord vibrated as follows: O best of learned persons, do not fear! I wish all good fortune to you. Become My devotees by hearing and chanting about Me and offering Me prayers, for these are certainly meant to award benediction to all living entities. I know all about the activities of Hiranyakashipu and shall surely stop them very soon. Please wait patiently until that time.“

 

SB. 7.4.27

 

„When one is envious of the demigods, who represent the Supreme Personality of Godhead, of the Vedas, which give all knowledge, of the cows, brahmanas, Vaisnavas and religious principles, and ultimately of Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he and his civilization will be vanquished without delay.“

 

 

Those who read these texts may also be direct witnesses of the upcoming events, where the long maintained arrogance of the present leaders and their absence of any human concern will get punished by the Supreme Lord.

 

Personally, since I remember, I defied people who were motivated by fear.

My parents were shaking in fear of the unknown, my student friends were shaking with fear of the upcoming tests, my relatives were shaking in fear who may die first, people in the street were shaking in fear who may get first reported to police, the hippies were shaking in fear who may be drafted to Vietnam or who may not provide the drugs they needed, my friends artists were shaking in fear who may become famous and who may not, everybody was afraid.

 

Meeting Srila Prabhupada, I learned to understand why there was a fear. All fear in this world is generated from total identification with this body. It is also the main focus of the demons and the main tool they operate with while constantly injecting fear into people´s hearts. First making the population addicted to all kinds of „toys“ developed by dint of the science they are so proud of, they scare the very same people by taking the „drug“ they injected away from them.

 

Making people to entirely dependant controllable slaves, in the name of freedom and democracy, they strip the humans by dint of some invisible virus even of the very basic human rights granted to them by the very same governments who violate them at any step.

 

In such hypocritical atmosphere, the prayers mentioned above offer solution as all the demons of the past were removed and cast into the darkest regions by the very same Lord, who is ready to rescue and help those who are pious and sincere at heart.

I saw in my life one nation invading another, I saw the futility of any man-made movements to fail due to their still prevailing addiction to excessive sense gratification.

And so Srila Prabhupada´s call for independence from this body-oriented slavery came like a solution to all the problems I had so far.

 

This is the power of a devotee: to abstain from sense gratification offered by the demons, asking the very basic questions:

 

What do I need for surviving in this body?

 

Suddenly one may realize that things one really needs are not many.

 

Srila Prabhupada called for total negligence towards the demoniac propaganda. Even presently in times of worldwide restrictions, we see people do downhill skiing, gathering in cafes, and hankering for another movie theatre visit.

Nothing of this is tempting to a devotee who seeks only the absolutely necessary means of survival, and above all who seeks association of other similarly minded devotees, who are eager to flock at Srila Prabhupada´s lotus feet, the most safe and steady place in this ever changing world.

 

May the above mentioned slokas be our real shelter and real solace in the ever upgrading madness the demons have installed for us.
